What networking technologies do VW-1P support?

 

VW-1P supports 802.11b and 802.11g.

 

 

Q.

Is VW-1P connection secure?

 

Yes. VW-1P supports login code protection for accessing this device, and supports WEP (64 & 128-bit) for transmission security.

 

 

Q.

Does VW-1P only work wirelessly?

 

Wired or wireless connections can both be use to present on the VW-1P.

 

 

Q.

What is the wireless range of VW-1P?

 

The distance of wireless transmission is normally up to 250-ft outdoor and 150-ft indoor, but depends on network environment, network traffic rate and quality of network connection.

Can I go onto the internet if I'm connected to the VW-1P?

 

Yes. VW-1P allows browsing the internet while projecting computer screen if you have local network or DSL/Cable modem connected to VW-1P's LAN port.  

 

The VW-1P will act as an access point for the internet connection or network with the ability to be the DHCP server, allow another device on the network to be the DHCP server, or static IP configuration.

Does the VW-1P serve as a DHCP server?

 

By default the VW-1P is setup as a DHCP server for those who connect, but when connected to a LAN, it can be setup to allow another device on the LAN to be the DHCP server and also supports static IP configuration.

 

 

Q.

Can the VW-1P exist on my existing network?

 

Yes. The VW-1P will act as an access point for the network with the ability to be the DHCP server, allow another device on the network to be the DHCP server, or static IP configuration.

 

 

Q.

Can I connect wirelessly to my network and still stream video wirelessly?

 

Yes. You can connect your network to the VW-1P's LAN port and the VW-1P will act as an access point to the network as well as allow you to stream video wirelessly.

 

 

Q.

What happens to my LAN connection if I'm streaming wirelessly to the VW-P?

 

Your wired LAN connection will not function as usual unless you are streaming to the VW-1P through your wired LAN connection or if you are accessing your LAN wirelessly through the VW-1P.

 

 

Q.

Does VW-1P support any other data encryption or security besides WEP?

 

Currently VW-1P supports WEP security. If the device is on LAN and you are worried about people accessing LAN with WEP, first try 128-bit WEP or get an access point that provides LEAP or other higher grade security and make this device a wired device on that access point.

 

 

Q.

Can I disable wireless portion (gateway) feature of VW-1P?

 

Yes. VW-1P allows disabling gateway feature for wireless access on VW-1P so that it can be a LAN resource and provide video projection over LAN (video over ip).

VW-1P supports Windows XP / 2000 / Vista

Can VW-1P work with any projector or display?

 

Yes. VW-1P can work with all projectors, LCD displays, Plasmas or Monitors with standard VGA connector.

Does VW-1P support Macintosh computers?

 

VW-1P does not supports Mac

Can my Notebook with embedded wireless card work with VW-1P?

 

Yes. Any PC with embedded or external wireless card can work with VW-1P. You can play your presentation files wired or wirelessly on the projector.

 

 

Q.

Which brand of wireless card works with VW-1P?

 

Any brand of wireless cards will work once it has been initially configured on your PC and can be assigned an IP address successfully.

 

 

Q.

Can I use my desktop computer with VW-1P?

 

Yes. You can use any personal computer as long as you are connected wired or wirelessly to the VW-1P.

 

 

Q.

Is a cable TV box, DVD player, SAT receiver compatible with the VW-1P?

 

No. Only computer video.

 

 

Q.

Are composite/S-Video/Component video sources like cameras, DVD players, or Document Cameras compatible?

 

No, not directly. However if those devices are able to connect to your computer then the computer can be used to stream these sources.

How does the VW-1P work?

 

Through 802.11b and 802.11g wireless technology, the VW-1P software captures your screen image and sends it wirelessly to the VW-1P receiver. Then the VW-1P receiver outputs your PC screen to the projector

 

 

Q.

What is the difference between Ad-hoc and Infrastructure mode?

 

Ad-hoc allows you to connect from the computer directly to the projector. Your wireless card has a dedicated connection to the VW-1P receiver and cannot access other wireless networks.

 

 

 

Infrastructure allows you to connect from the computer through your wireless network to the projector. This allows you to simultaneously access other wireless network resources as you utilize the VW-1P receiver.

 

 

Q.

How many people can use VW-1P at the same time?

 

Only one person can make presentation at a time. But with built in DHCP, VW-1P allows up to 254 clients to connect at the same time and wait their turn for projection.

 

 

Q.

Can the VW-1P support a video clip?

 

VW-1P supports video mode for playback MPG, MPEG, DAT, VOB, WMV9, and ASF video. For best video playback performance, 802.11g is recommended and actual performance will vary depending on environment.

 

 

Q.

Can I get DVI output from the VW-1P?

 

Not directly. However, in order to get DVI output from the VW-1P you will need an external VGA to DVI converter.

 

 

Q.

Where can I install the VW-1P hardware?

 

There are two ways to place the VW-1P. The first way is horizontally on a flat surface, so it sits on its bottom panel. The other is to mount it, using the included mounting kit.

 

 

Q.

How do you know the VW-1P is ready for connection and streaming?

 

When the projector shows the default menu on screen, it indicates that the VW-1P is now ready.

 

 

Q.

What is the default IP address of the VW-1P?

 

The default IP address is 192.168.100.10, otherwise can be found on the lower left hand corner of the projector screen.

 

 

Q.

How do I download the utility for the VW-1P?

 

Once you have established a connection to the VW-1P, browse its IP address in your web browser. Click ‘Download' and execute the installation process. After installation, a ‘WPS' shortcut will show on your desktop.

 

 

Q.

What is the ‘Login Code'?

 

It is a security code that must be entered before being allowed to stream video. It keeps others from outside the meeting from having access to the projector.

 

 

Q.

How do I playback video files?

 

Click the ‘Video' tab within the utility to open a video file for playback. MPG, MPEG, DAT, VOB, WMV9, and ASF are supported video formats.

 

 

Q.

How do I open the Admin Page?

 

Once connected to the VW-1P, browse its IP address in your web browser. From here you will have access to download the utility, Conference Control, and administration. The default IP address is 192.168.100.10.

 

 

Q.

What is Conference Control?

 

This function allows you to host a meeting smoothly without projector cable swapping with each participant able to show their own presentation from their own computer.  Click on Menu on top of WPS utility and then login in to Conference Control mode by logging in as Trainer with trainer as password.

 

 

Q.

How do I adjust the output display settings on the VW-1P?

 

From the web-based interface, click ‘Admin' and login. The default password is ‘admin'. Then click 'Projection Setup'. From here you can adjust the output resolution, color depth, and screen refresh rate.
